"The
Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us..."
(John 1:14). Jesus Christ became a human being at a specific
time and in a concrete place. And yet His actions-above all
His Death and Resurrection for the forgiveness of sins-have
affected the whole human race for all time. What one person
does locally can make a profound difference for others.
As
disciples of Jesus Christ, who possess His Holy Spirit, we
seek to live out our faith in concrete ways. We believe that
God can use our prayers, words, and actions to continue the
work of Jesus, and so make a difference for others-indeed,
for the world.
Listed
below are the many ways we try to live out our faith here
in this parish. You are invited to learn more about these
ministries which, thanks to the Holy Spirit, are flourishing
at St. Anne. You are welcome to offer your gifts and talents
to Lord in this holy work.

Liturgical
ministries
"There are different gifts, but the same Spirit; there are
different ministries but the same Lord; there are different works
but the same God...To each person the manifestation of the Spirit
is given for the common good." (1 Corinthians. 12:4-7)
We invite you to participate as a liturgical minister in the
following areas:
(if you have any questions, please contact Richard
Davis, Director of Liturgy & Music, at the parish office, 276-669-8200,
ext. 24)
"Unity
in prayer and in the active participation in the celebration of
the divine mysteries
in the Church's liturgy contributes in an especially effective way
to the wealth of Christian life of both the individual and the community."
(Pope John XXIII)

Mass Coordinators are of vital importance to our liturgical celebrations.
They assume responsibility for setting up for the liturgies (getting

liturgical ministers (EM's, Lectors, Servers, etc.) have arrived.
Mass Coordinators work closely with the Pastor and the Director
of Liturgy & Music. Mass Coordinators need to be familiar with
the guidelines and procedures for the other liturgical ministries.
Training is provided for those who are willing to volunteer in this
capacity.

Justice
and Peace
"What does
the Lord require of you, but to do justice, to love kindness and
walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8)
Our
church mission statement expresses it as follows:
One of the great challenges for Christians is as old as our faith,
how do we connect our Sunday worship with our everyday life? How
do we carry the values of our faith into family life, our vocations,
and our interactions in the public area? How do we love our neighbor,
pursue peace and seek justice in everyday choices and commitments?
Catholics
are called by God to protect human life, to promote human dignity,
to defend the poor and to seek the common good. This social mission
of the Church belongs to all of us. It is an essential part of
what it is to be a believer. Catholicism does not call us to abandon
the world, but to help shape it. This
does not mean leaving worldly tasks and responsibilities, but
transforming them. Catholics are everywhere in this society.
Working
for justice in everyday life is not easy. There are complex and
sometimes difficult challenges encountered by women and men as
they try to live their faith in the world. We applaud the efforts
of all Catholics to live the Gospel by pursuing justice and peace
in their everyday choices and
commitments.
Our
Justice and Peace committee works to educate our parish concerning
our Catholic teaching on topics relevant to Justice and peace.
And assist our community in developing outreach to those in need.
Please Call Lee Armstrong to join more fully in this effort.
Love
for others, and in the first place love for the poor, in whom
the Church sees Christ himself, is made concrete in the promotion
of justice.
Pope John Paul II, Centesimus Annus, 1991
