History of St Anne Parish
. Prayer - Sacraments - Spiritual Life
. The Sacraments: A sacrament is "an efficacious sign of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us through the work of the Holy Spirit" (The Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition) The Catholic Church is a sacramental church in that the life of the faithful is centered around the celebration of the Sacraments.

. There are Seven Sacraments in the church; Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist (Holy Communion), Reconciliation (Confession/Penance), Anointing of the Sick, Marriage and Holy Orders.

. Preparation for the Sacraments: At St. Anne Catholic Church there are preparations necessary for reception of most of the Sacraments. Below you will find the requirements for each one as it is here at our parish.

. Baptism: Infants and children up to 6 years of age are brought to Baptism by their parents or guardians. The parents or guardians must have a Preparatory Session with Jim Yencha, Director of Sacramental Preparation. This session takes approximately one to one-and-a-half hours and is scheduled at the convenience of the parents. The Preparation Session must be done before a child is baptized.

Children ages 7-18 are brought into the Catholic Community through the Christian Initiation of Children of Catechetical Age (CICCA). This process which mimics the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), begins in September each year and concludes with the child receiving Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. The time frame for this preparation is dependent on the individual. Please contact Jim Yencha at 276-669-8200 Ext. 23 for more information on Baptism, CICCA, or RCIA.

. First Reconciliation: First Reconciliation is celebrated with children who are at least 7 years of age and in the Second grade. Parents are required to attend the adult classes while the children are attending the children’s classes. Children must be enrolled in and attending either St. Anne’s Catholic School or St. Anne’s Sunday School of Religion in order to prepare for Reconciliation.

Classes are scheduled for October 30, November 13, 20, 2005 from 2:00 PM until 4:30 PM. Celebration of First Reconciliation is either on Friday, December 2, 2005 at 7:00 PM or Saturday, December 3, 2005 at 11:00 AM. Please contact Jim Yencha at 276-669-8200 Ext. 23 for more information.

. First Eucharist: First Eucharist is celebrated on Mother’s Day weekend each year. The children who have celebrated their First Reconciliation this year are eligible to prepare for and receive First Eucharist ( Holy Communion).

Parents are required to attend the adult sessions while the children attend their classes.

First Eucharist classes will be held on February 12 & 26 and March 12, 2006 from 2:00 PM until 4:30 PM. The children and parents are also required to attend the First Eucharist Retreat on May 7, 2006 from 2:00 PM until 5:30 PM. First Eucharist will be celebrated the weekend of May 13/14, 2006. Questions or for more information, please call Jim Yencha at 276-669-8200 Ext. 23
