Saint Michael (the Archangel)
The Feast of the Archangels (Michael, Gabriel & Raphael)
is celebrated on September 29.
These biblical messengers signify God's transcendence and loving
care:
Michael
(meaning "Who is like God")
Gabriel ("God's Strength")
Raphael ("God's Remedy")
St. Michael is the patron of security forces & of the sick.
Gabriel is patron of telecommunications & the postal service.
Raphael is patron of travelers & the blind.
Prayer
to St. Michael
St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle,
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.
Pope Leo XIII (1878-1903)
Here
at Saint Anne Catholic Church, we annually celebrate a special Evening
Prayer for Law Enforcement Personnel on (or near) the Feast
of St. Michael. All are invited to join us for this year's Evening
Prayer in honor of the law enforcement community. A reception will follow the service. Please
plan to come and pray with and for the brave men and women who keep
us safe.
Glorious
Saint Michael, Prince of the heavenly hosts,
who stands always ready to give assistance to the people of God,
look down with kindness and protection on these men and women
who serve on your earthly force. Grant them strength and protection,
wise judgement and good counsel. May they be blessed with the grace
of your sense of duty and given courage in the face of danger.
Grant them inspiration and fortitude to be stout of heart, an example
of self-control,
and impervious to temptations. May they find peace and assurance
in the knowledge
that they have the respect, admiration and support of this community
of your faithful.
And may almighty God bless all of these law enforcement personnel,
who serve and protect us, + in the name of the Father, and of the
Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
